Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammed Saeed Al-Hakeem received a Sufi group from the UK on Thursday, 2nd January 2020. He advised that the Muslims in all nations across the world to increase the dialogue, cooperation and affection amongst each other. He emphasized the importance of unity, through entrenching the commonalities and strengthening them.

His Eminence narrated to his guests the narration of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny): “Compassion has not been placed in something, but that it adorns it; and foolishness has not been placed in anything, but that it causes it disgrace.”

His Eminence called all Muslims to act upon the straight path shown by the Holy Quran and the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny), with beautiful ethics, taking the Prophet as an example in how he was able to establish his personality amongst the polytheists, with his beautiful etiquettes and ethics.

Day Questions

Does a Christian woman need to still take divorce from her Christian husband once she becomes Muslim?

If she embraced Islam but her husband did not, then her marriage has become null and void, and she can get married again after observing the waiting period (iddah).

Is it permissible for a man to attend mixed-gender swimming pools, particularly if each individual is swimming in separated tracks back and forth?

Swimming for men, in itself, is permissible; however, these places are one of the reasons of falling into committing sins usually, unless the individual attends during the times when women do not attend.

Is it permissible to read the Holy Qur'an without wudhu? Is it permissible to read it or to touch it after ghusl?

It is permissible to recite Holy Qur'an without wudhu, but it is not permissible to touch the words of the Qur'an without wudhu. It is permissible to recite Qur'an after a compulsory ghusl, like the ghusl of Janabah, or a proven to be recommend ghusl, like ghusl of Friday.

A boy commits sodomy with another boy. One of the boys first thinks that penetration had happened, but the other boy (the object of sodomy) then insists that there was no penetration, and this causes doubt in the mind of the first boy, which lingers for years. Can the first boy (who committed the act) marry the sister of the other?

If the perpetrator of the sodomy was not an adult at the time of the act – as per the religious definition of adulthood– then marrying the sister of the accusative is permissible, even if penetration took place, not to mention if penetration is doubtful.
