Day Questions

I used to offer prayers behind an imam that does not recite the second Sura. Is my prayers valid?

The prayer behind such a person is invalid. Your previous prayers are in order if you believed that this person satisfied all the conditions of the imam of the congregational prayer and you did not know that he was not offering the second Sura.

If someone committed adultery in his youth, but thereafter he repented and had not committed such a sin again, should he still expect to be punished in purgatory (barzakh)?

If he repents and seeks forgiveness, the mercy of Almighty Allah is expected to reach him. He shall not be subject to any punishment, God willing.

If the musical instruments can be used to produce permissible kind of music then it is allowed to sell them. If this is not the case, he can discard them. It is permissible to sell the gold ring even if it is for men.

Could I know why playing chess is prohibited in Islam?

The Divine Legislator prohibits it even without betting. We are not aware of the real reasons for legislations and we should implement them even if we do not know its real reasons, as we should surrender to Almighty Allah's laws in all aspects.
